Your Local Chimney Masonry Repair Experts: Reach Out Today
Your chimney is more than a design feature – it’s a hardworking structure that’s constantly exposed to Connecticut’s harshest weather, from summer humidity to winter freeze-thaw cycles. Over time, that exposure takes its toll, causing mortar joints to crack, bricks to loosen, and moisture to seep where it doesn’t belong.
At Total Chimney Care, we’ve been restoring and protecting local chimneys since 1996. Our CSIA-certified technicians specialize in expert masonry repairs and tuckpointing that don’t just improve appearances, but protect your home’s structural integrity for years to come. When you need honest assessments and lasting results, our locally owned, family-operated team is the trusted neighborhood expert you can count on.

What Is Tuckpointing & Does My Chimney Need It?
Tuckpointing (sometimes called repointing) is the process of removing deteriorated mortar from between the bricks of your chimney and replacing it with fresh, durable mortar. Over the years, mortar joints weaken and crumble due to constant exposure to moisture, wind, and Connecticut’s freeze-thaw cycles. When left unaddressed, damaged mortar allows water to penetrate the masonry, accelerating decay and potentially leading to costly structural problems or even chimney collapse.
Signs that your chimney may need tuckpointing include:
- visible gaps or cracks in the mortar
- crumbling joints
- loose or spalling bricks
- white staining (efflorescence)
If you’ve noticed any of these warning signs, it’s wise to schedule an inspection. Our CSIA-certified technicians will provide an honest, thorough assessment and recommend only the repairs your chimney genuinely needs, restoring both its strength and appearance while helping you avoid larger, more expensive issues down the road.
